This is my first time doing one of these behind the scenes posts and I’m going to have to make it an annual thing……it’s so fun! I don’t ask my second shooters to take photos of me working during weddings, but they do anyway and I love them for it! I get to see how awkward I am haha!
For real though, 2015 was a great year for my business. I photographed close to 30 weddings while second shooting a few more and I met so many wonderful people along the way. I get to spend people’s wedding days with them and, while it is a ton of work, it is one of the most rewarding experiences. I laugh, I cry, I sing and dance. I calm nerves, ease stress, solve problems. I hear old stories and make new ones. I strive not just to be your photographer for the day, but one of your friends….part of your family. Thank you so much to all the brides and grooms that made me part of their family for the day. It means the world to me.
Another big thank you to all the second shooters that went on these wedding day adventures with me. I’m so thankful for your friendship and your help. So Anna, Marisa, Kate, Jen, Brea, Teri, Angee, Angel, and Melissa……thank you all from the bottom of my heart! And don’t hate me if there are embarassing photos of you to follow.
I thought I would do something fun and, for some behind the scenes photos, you’ll also see the official photo that resulted. So the photo of me behind the scenes and then the photo that I was taking in that moment 🙂
I also learned a few things from these photos. I talk a lot with my hands, I wear my black and navy dress way too much (like legit way too much….but it has pockets!), I have horrible posture, I spend a lot of time messing with veils, and the belly pooch from wearing a Spider Holster is unfortunate but unavoidable. Enjoy!
Where’s Waldo?Testing my light on Anna
No, Kim, you don’t cut the cake with the server…let’s use the knife.Hi Angel! The tongue out on the bottom one….it betters my photo taking abilityEven behind the scenes shots by Kate are artsyThat’s not awkward at allOne awesome part about working with Kate, besides the fact that she is a beyond amazing photographer, is she pulls off wearing things I never could. I think this jumper has tigers or something like that on it and she looks adorable.Brea is such a good model holding her invisible groomBrea also takes photos of herself in mirrors. I like it.“It’s 110 degrees outside today and I’m too hot to do anything but point to people and tell you to come here.”Ok, you got me. Obviously that spot on the left isn’t the same one as on the right. But that spot on the left ended up sucking because there were sun spots so we just moved a few steps down the path. 🙂Yes, we do cake cutting light testing. When I get tired and fidgety I start chewing on my battery pack cord. It’s normal.Hi Jen 🙂That’s the incredible wedding planner Elle there on the right 🙂Thriller dance? Lion roar? Who knows.“Lean against the car and drape your hand over the headlight all casual like this.” I make a lot of sense. Doesn’t everybody just sit down in the middle of Fells?Oh Marisa, I heart you.Photographer elevator selfie with Angee!“Don’t look past this point or you’ll ruin everything”Anna, you’re the best 🙂
Ummm, you can never wear a dress with pockets too much. Just saying. This was such a fun post!
