This is going to be a long one…….
I have to be honest and I know this is going to make me look bad but…….I’ve been sitting on this blog post for a little while. The photos have been ready but I’ve been avoiding writing anything. Now before everybody starts saying “shame” and thinking I’m some horrible photographer, let me explain. Writing is not my favorite thing to do. At all. Sometimes I struggle with what I want to say or not being able to come up with something to write about and it’s not because I don’t like the people or their wedding wasn’t fun or anything like that (I love all my couples so please don’t get the wrong idea)…….it’s just writing doesn’t come easy to me and that whole writer’s block thing…..people it’s real. It is evil. This blog post, though, it was actually the opposite problem. I had TOO MUCH to say. I’ve been overwhelmed. There have been too many thoughts going around like crazy in my mind and I knew I had to pick one route and go with it, but I just didn’t know what to pick. And on top of that, I’ve been nervous about putting the pictures out there…….
If you remember Mylynh and Randy’s engagement session and read what I wrote there, you would know that I’ve known Mylynh for a very long time and I think the world of this girl. She is a total sweetheart through and through. She deserves the absolute best photos in the world and I want her to LOVE them. I was nervous going into her and Randy’s wedding day because I wanted to do the most amazing job for them and give them everything they deserve but I’m my own worst critic. I know the pictures ended up beautiful and I have no doubt they’re going to love them but still…..I’ve been SO nervous. As a result, I’ve kind of held off on putting the pictures out there. But it’s time to stop procrastinating and show the world the pictures of this absolutely amazing couple that I had the honor of photographing.
Mylynh and Randy actually officially got married in an intimate ceremony in Florida in May but decided to have two other parties in order to celebrate with all of their family and friends. This one in Arlington, VA for Mylynh’s family, and then this weekend they are celebrating in St. Louis with Randy’s family. They chose to hold their reception at the China Garden restaurant and served a traditional 10 course meal to their guests. Yes, you read that right….10 courses! During dinner there was a lion dance in which I think I about got eaten by the lion several times in my attempts to get pictures of it. It was incredible to watch and so much fun at the end when Randy and Mylynh had to “feed” the lions. I’m beyond thankful that I got to be a part of this special occasion for Randy and Mylynh and I loved seeing all of the people that feel just as strongly about Mylynh as I do.
Side note…..I’ve rambled on about Mylynh so much that I think it’s time I give Randy a little love, too. In the small amount of time I’ve gotten to spend with Randy, I can see why Mylynh loves him. Randy, I can see that you are sweet, kind, funny, gracious, intelligent, witty, and caring. As much as I know how lucky you are to have found Mylynh, I know she is just as lucky to have found you. Thank you for making my friend so happy.
Okay I think that’s enough writing now 🙂 Mylynh and Randy, thank you again for sharing your celebration with me. Have so much fun this weekend in St. Louis!!
