I don’t always photograph things that aren’t weddings or engagement sessions, but when I do, they’re absolutely amazing.  Like this 50th Anniversary and family photo session on the Eastern Shore.  Those two lovely people in the middle, LeRoy and Karen, were celebrating 50 years of marriage while spending a week away on vacation near St. Michaels with their family.

I’m usually spending time with couples that are just beginning their journey into marriage.  Their love is fresh.  It’s new.  Neither of them knows exactly what the future is going to look like.  Then I get to photograph people like LeRoy and Karen that have been married for 50 years.  Their love is time tested.  Comfortable.  Familiar.  They’ve been through that unknown future together.  Their love gave them two kids.  Those kids married and had kids of their own.  Now LeRoy and Karen have grandchildren.  This big, beautiful family happened because two people loved each other.  I adore looking at photos of families and thinking that it all happened because of just two people.  Cheers to 50 years!!
