This is it folks! My last wedding from 2015 and what a beauty it was! I had the pleasure of second shooting a wedding around Christmas time at Antrim 1844 in 2014 so I was excited to know I got to go back there in 2015 for Jill and Patrick’s wedding. Antrim 1844 decorates in such a classic and elegant way for the holidays…..garland draped banisters and balconies, lots of twinkling lights, two incredibly decorated Christmas trees in the main house, wreath adorned doors….it’s a great way to get into the Christmas spirit and it also provides the perfect backdrop for a winter wedding. Although, I’m pretty sure when you imagine a winter wedding you don’t expect it to be 70 degrees outside, which is what it was the day the of Jill and Patrick’s wedding. I was sweating. In December. In short sleeves. You’re a tricky one Maryland. As unexpected as it was, the weather was such a God send for their wedding because we got to do SO many photos outside without me having to convince people to pretend they’re not freezing their bums off for the photos.
While Antrim was already so beautifully decorated, Jill and Patrick went above and beyond and, along with the amazing Stephanie of Stephanie Day Events, brought in even more greenery and draping and lights. It was GORGEOUS!! Their theme of a rustic winter wonderland of greens and pinecones came to life and it was one of my favorite weddings of the year to photograph. I love playing around with Christmas tree lights to provide a fun backdrop for detail photos and the winter sun is simply magical.
I couldn’t have asked for a better bride and groom for the day. Jill and Patrick are such a great pair and they complement each other so well. They provide exactly what the other needs to balance them out and it was such an honor to witness them committing their lives to each other to be that balance for forever. Jill and Patrick, thank you for trusting me with your wedding memories. It was a privilege to spend the day with you two!
