Hi, I'm Lauren! Welcome to my blog! I'm a Maryland wedding and portrait photographer that loves beautiful light and has an obsession with the water. This is my pretty little place to show off all of my most recent photography adventures and the stories behind them. So get comfy and have a look around!

Laura and Eric’s Baltimore Maryland Engagement

Being a wedding photographer means you’re at the mercy of Mother Nature.  No sugar coating it…..she doesn’t care what you have planned and, sometimes, those plans have to be changed completely.  But when you have a couple coming up from South Carolina for their Baltimore engagement session and you only have a span of a few hours to get that session done, you can’t change your plans too much, you have to figure out how to make it work.  It had been calling for rain, rain, and more rain the morning of Laura and Eric’s engagement session.  It was a bummer.  Both Laura and I were checking the weather like crazy fools and when I woke up that Saturday morning…yep, it was pouring rain.  I checked 4 different hourly forecasts, of course all of them saying different things, and figured that our best bet was to try and wait out the rain.  We couldn’t wait too long though because they had to get to their engagement party in Delaware later that day.  We picked a later time to meet and I was just hoping and praying that the rain would let up by then and the skies would stay overcast for us long enough to get the session done.  We were going to be shooting at mid-day and that is NOT a good time for photos so I needed those clouds to stick around.

We met up at Federal Hill Park and, while it was still sprinkling, it was manageable.  The sprinkling soon came to an end, the clouds stuck around for a while, and it ended up being PERFECT!!  So kids, the moral of the story is even if Mother Nature wants to be a challenge we can make it work!!  And sometimes it turns out even better than you ever expected!!  I’ve shot around Fed Hill and Fells Point many times and these photos are some of my favorites!

Laura and Eric were such a joy to photograph!  She was admittedly nervous but all it took was showing her one back of camera preview of how great the two of them looked and the nerves washed away and they were the cutest, cuddliest, most amazing couple to work with!  From getting those iconic Baltimore view photos atop Fed Hill, to stopping at Kona Grill super fast because that’s where they had their first date, to then moving on to Fells Point and falling in love with the tug boat docked there, I couldn’t have imagined a better Baltimore engagement session.  It wasn’t until near the very end of the session that the clouds scattered and the bright, harsh, mid-day sun came out….perfect timing!

Laura and Eric, thank you so much for allowing me to be the one to capture these photos for you.  The fact that you came all the way from Charleston and chose me is such a huge compliment.  I seriously adore these photos and hope you do, too!!
