A chance meeting. That’s how Roger and Faye say their story began. At a coffee shop in DC named “Tryst” is where the chance meeting occurred. Roger and Faye happened to be there at the same time with two people that happened to know each other. They all struck up a conversation and exchanged business cards. Roger basically ignored Faye’s attempts to reach out to him for a little while, because he’s a guy, and it wasn’t until a mutual friend knocked some sense into Roger that he finally called her back and set up a meeting. At the time, both Roger and Faye were working on Capitol Hill, so they used work and business meetings as an excuse to stay in touch. That continued until they finally realized this “excuse” they were using to see each other was just that….an excuse….and, instead, allowed a relationship and love to form.
Roger and Faye truly are an amazing couple and the connection they have fills the room with a tangible energy. When Roger saw Faye for the first time as she started walking down the aisle, tears welled up in his eyes and true love could not have been more present than in that moment. In just the short amount of time that I’ve known them, I can honestly say they light each other up and make each other better. And the amount of love and support I witnessed from all their family and friends on their wedding day was beyond words. I truly am the luckiest person to get to be a part of these celebrations and be a part of the family for the day (yes, Roger and Faye, I am claiming myself an honorary member of the family because you guys are that awesome and I want to be awesome, too).
Their beautiful wedding day at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore was perfection, even despite the severe storms that happened just moments after that photo above was taken and the tornado watches that followed. We had to hurry to beat the storms and it was practically as dark as nighttime outside despite it not even being sunset yet, but Roger and Faye followed my craziness outside and we made some beautiful portraits with the harbor as our backdrop. Later on, I listened to some hilarious and heartwarming speeches that had the entire room dying from laughter and reaching for tissues. I made my way around the dance floor as the newlyweds and their guests danced the night away, and then honestly was sad when it was time to say goodbye to Roger and Faye. I have felt so welcomed into their life and wish them more happiness than they could imagine. Roger and Faye, thank you for celebrating with me!!
These are all Faye’s sisters (can’t you tell?!) and Faye’s daughter on the right 🙂Brea, you’re not supposed to scare the groomsmen when you go to take their photo 😉No matter how much I stress to the guys to walk slow, they still race towards me. And then I yell. And then this happens. That’s one of Roger’s brothers there on the right…..the smiles in that family. Love them!!Here’s the rest of the brothers along with Roger’s uncle. This group of guys 😉
