I’ll be totally honest, I was so bummed when it looked like Hurricane Joaquin was going to put a MAJOR damper on Stephanie and Evan’s Steppingstone Farm Museum wedding. I knew that it was planned to be an absolutely gorgeous wedding because they had one of the best wedding planners ever, Elle from Elle Ellinghaus Designs, and I knew that plans were going to have to be adjusted for the weather. I was frantically checking out photos from other weddings at Steppingstone to see if there were overhang areas outside that we could utilize for portraits in case it was raining. Or even indoor spots if the worst was happening and it was totally hurricaning outside. But then I saw Steph’s facebook status a few days before the wedding and it said “Joaquin ain’t gonna rain on our parade. Bring your rain boots party people”. Best. Attitude. Ever. Who was I to be worried when my bride was ready to put on some rain boots and have a hurricane party?? So I embraced it….got all my rain gear ready and was pumped to have some fun making wedding photos in the midst of a hurricane. But then….well you all know how that whole hurricane thing went. No hurricane. Granted, plans still had to change a little due to rain leading up to the weekend soaking the ground but, like I said before, best wedding planner. Elle and Steph put in extra hours making plans to move locations within Steppingstone around and it was still that absolutely gorgeous wedding I had been imagining (side note – this is exactly why you should hire a good planner everyone!!!).
Steph and Evan are one of the coolest couples around. Evan is super laid back with a total goofy side…..I really had no idea how goofy until their ceremony when he was cracking all their guests up with little comments and gestures. Steph is a sweetheart that’s got the right amount of sass and this cute shy/humble thing all at the same time. I loved when someone would tell her how pretty she looked and she would get all shy because she has no idea just how gorgeous she is. I mean seriously…wait until you see the portraits of her doing her bride thing. Stunning. Then their wedding was just as wonderful as they are. Steppingstone Farm Museum is one of my new favorite venues. There are rustic buildings all over the property, beautiful views, and great photo spots anywhere you turn. Combine that with the wedding vision that they brought to life and it was wedding perfection. Their “official” theme was gypsy/boho vibe mixed with a vintage glam of empire chandeliers hanging under a clear tent, gold mercury glass and wine bottles dripping with plum candles. Umm, yes please!! Any wedding with that description is one I want to photograph and it was exactly that.
Ok….I’m going to stop blabbing now because I really just want everyone to be able to move on and check out these photos. You’re going to fall in love with this wedding and this couple. I did. Steph and Evan, thank you so so so much for “the hurricane never came this way” partying with me. I had a blast!
That’s Steph’s Mom. Love that moment.Yes, I know the orange plastic fencing isn’t pretty and all. But Steph’s girls were peeking around the corner during the first look and it was too stinkin cute. They’re goofs.I don’t know.Lift attempt #1. Not the best.Check out all the faces made during this ceremony. It’s pretty great. If this were a video you would see them jumping up and down because they just got pronounced husband and wife.Steph’s Mom and Dad after the recessional. 🙂Steph and Evan were headed off to just chill for a few minutes before joining their cocktail hour. I don’t think Evan knows I saw him skipping away. I didn’t have a long zoom on my camera at the time and there wasn’t enough time to switch, but from far away works for me!Evan lost a tooth a week before the wedding at his bachelor party. Don’t worry….it’s back in. And there’s Steph being all shy about how pretty she is.
