This downtown Annapolis engagement session with Amy and Ryan was laughter.  From beginning to end.  Laughter, laughter, and more laughter.  And cold temperatures and howling wind, but mostly laughter  🙂

When I first met with Amy and Ryan they told me I was going to have my work cut out for me.  They told me how Ryan can’t take a good picture to save his life…..like even if he’s smiling, as soon as a camera shutter is clicked, something weird happens and it’s bad.  Ok, maybe I’m paraphrasing a little….Ryan don’t hate me  😉  But however it was that they described it, I thought “bring it on”.  I love a challenge.  I love showing my couples (though it’s usually the guys) that getting your picture taken can be fun and it’s easy!  Just interact with that person you’re in love with and I’ll take care of the rest.  I’ll figure out how to tame the crazy face that’s usually made in photos.  So that’s what we did!  Yes, it did take a little work and some playing tricks games to figure out how to get Ryan to loosen up and smile, but we got there.  Mostly because we discovered he kept sticking out his butt so at one point he even made the comment “I’m concentrating so hard on my butt I stopped even worrying about my face”.  While Ryan was figuring out his butt issue, Amy was all smiles and I loved loved loved capturing how happy she was.  I seriously cannot wait to capture more of her infectious smile on their wedding day.

While I will admit that I wish it had been nicer outside because shooting in the cold and seriously crazy wind is already a challenge in and of itself, I think Amy and Ryan’s Annapolis engagement session ended up amazing and I’m so happy with all the photos full of smiles and laughs we captured.  It was the practice we needed before the big day and it makes me excited for all the laughs I know we’ll share at their wedding.  And Ryan, I’m picking on you but I genuinely loved having you in front of my camera, too.  Don’t be sad  😉

These two get married this Saturday (crazy!!) so I get to see them super soon.  I can’t wait!
