Megan and Steve’s Georgetown waterfront engagement session was an extra special one for me. Let me explain…..
I, unfortunately, have a pretty horrible memory. It’s fairly random what my brain decides to lock away for safe keeping and what can be seen one second and forgotten the next. My memories of growing up aren’t very vivid or extensive…..they’re mostly photo flashes in which I know I did something but can’t remember the actual experience. What it felt like, what actually happened. While childhood memories are fairly limited, a lot of the ones I do have definitely include this girl. I remember sleeping over at her house…she had two twin beds in her room, both covered with yo-yo quilts that I think her grandmother made….and in the morning we would wake up and Megan would cook us breakfast. Scrambled eggs, home fries, and a couple slices of fried ham. I remember being on the same Odyssey of the Mind team (do they still have that program??) in elementary school and we read Old Man and the Sea while sitting in her living room. We built a time machine (right?) out of a big cardboard box and won third place in the county, meaning we got to go to states! I remember going with her and her family to her grandparent’s house for big family get-together days and we played with all of her cousins. I remember a group of us walking back to Megan’s house every day after school during middle school and we listened to Bush’s “Sixteen Stone” CD when it first came out. Then it was No Doubt’s “Tragic Kingdom”. We also played on the same volleyball team in middle school. Megan has always been super tiny so those big turtle shell volleyball knee pads seemed to take up half her legs.
Like I said….really random memories. Those were the first ones that popped into my head, and I’m sure if I sat here I would be able to come up with more and more, but I know I need to eventually hit that “Publish” button for this blog post. This is about Megan and Steve, anyway, not me and Megan. I just wanted the world to know why this session was such a special one for me. I love the history I have with this girl and I know that Steve must be one hell of a guy to have snatched her up. I had never met Steve before the morning of their photo shoot, but I got to read all about him on their wedding website, as well as their story of how they met, fell in love, and about how Steve proposed. It’s all so cute. From meeting by chance because Steve crashed a girl’s road trip to OC for a mutual friend’s birthday weekend, to how he came over to Megan’s place in Arlington a couple times and then “never seemed to leave”….those are his words…..to then dressing Tater Tot, Megan’s French Bulldog who you will see very very soon, in a bowtie to assist in asking Megan to marry him….along with some homemade fries to celebrate FryDay (aka Friday) and a Maryland basketball game. It was perfectly them.
I can’t even begin to describe how much of an honor it is to get to be a part of this time in Megan’s (ok…and Steve’s) life. I can’t wait to see them tie the knot at Volt Restaurant in Frederick in September! For now, here are some favorites from their engagement session around Georgetown, complete with a bowtie clad Tate! 😉
Love love love all of the pictures!! You got some great ones of Tater Tot ? And thanks so much for the funny trip down memory lane! You’re the best and we’re so excited for September!
