Whoa. Where have I been?! Has it really been 3 weeks since I last blogged? I’ve had total lazy holiday brain I guess. But I’m back and ready to show off Jess and Dan’s winter wedding….my last wedding of 2014!
I had been SO SO lucky with the weather throughout 2014. There were some wedding days that it rained but I always managed to find some time when the rain would stop and things would work out perfectly to go outside for portrait time. Jess and Dan’s wedding, however…..yeah, totally different story. I guess Mother Nature decided it wanted me to really have to work in order to close out my 2014 wedding season. It NEVER stopped raining. Ever. It wouldn’t even slow down to a sprinkle. It just rained. But, I’ve learned from doing so many weddings, that days like those…..the really challenging ones….the ones where things simply don’t go as planned…….they really showcase my bride and groom’s love for each other and the pure joy they have in it being their wedding day. Jess and Dan smiled the whole way through and really showed me how important photos of their day were to them because they trekked around in the cold and pouring down rain wherever I asked them to go in order to get some gorgeous shots. I also cannot write this post without mentioning how absolutely incredibly amazing this bridal party was. Stick a bridal party of almost 20 people out in the cold and pouring rain and things could go south and verge on a nervous breakdown for a photographer real quick. But they were rock stars. The absolute nicest and most accommodating bridal party I’ve ever had the pleasure of being around. Jess and Dan’s bridal party…..THANK YOU!! I couldn’t have gotten done what we did without you all being so awesome.
Enough about the rain now……Jess and Dan’s wedding was absoltely gorgeous!! They were married at the beautiful St. Mary’s in Annapolis and then we hopped in trolley to go take some photos before heading back to the Governor Calvert House to party the night away. The Governor Calvert House was all decked out for Christmas with garland and trees and pretty around every corner. Jess and Dan went along with the winter/Christmas theme and had mini trees to hold place cards, glittery snowflakes, votive candles, and gold accents. It was all so warm, cozy, and perfect. I loved loved loved closing out my 2014 wedding season with Jess and Dan and all their family and friends. They are such a good looking couple and just as sweet and kind.
Thank you Jess and Dan for sharing your incredible wedding day with me!! Kate Spade sparkly shoes make my day 🙂
These girls are amazing!
I might have been a little obsessed with the flower girl and ring bearer at this wedding.
The flower girl’s little dress sticking out of the pew. So cute. Told you….obsessed.
Can you see all the rain?!
So I had this idea that I wanted all the groomsmen to jump and do the little Singing in the Rain side kick thing. It was raining so hard that I couldn’t get the shot off fast enough without my lens getting covered in rain drops before taking it. Bummer. Even though it’s not a clear crisp photo like I had wanted, I think it still turned out pretty cool. So I’m showing it. Yes, it was a fail…..but a kind of cool fail 🙂
Jess you are gorgeous!!
