What a way to start off the 2013 wedding season for Lauren C Photography! I couldn’t have been happier that my first wedding was this gorgeous and laid back event with this amazing couple. And Winnie. I can’t forget about Winnie. You’ll meet her a little later. 🙂
I got to spend the day with Rose and Morgan at the Baltimore Zoo Mansion House for their wedding full of personal touches and special moments. From a super sweet first look, to the moment of signing the Ketubah, photos around the old part of the zoo where Morgan constantly made Rose laugh, a ceremony under a gorgeous and sentimental Chupa with music from the band BalTumbao, a cocktail hour with glasses of sangria and tables adorned with seasonal daffodils, music by Happy Hours (more on them later, too!), and a visit with Winnie the penguin, to a reception filled with loving speeches of how Rose and Morgan met in Africa while he was doing research on lions and she was in the PeaceCorps, talks about Rose’s selfless acts of service that have taken her all over the world, and just how perfectly perfect they are for one another, and finally a night of dancing started off with an absolutely amazing performance of Home (by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros) from Happy Hours for Rose and Morgan’s first dance as husband and wife. I’m not a writer, so there is no way I can fully describe in that list just how special this wedding was, but, hopefully, the pictures can do it justice.
Rose and Morgan, I was so incredibly honored to share in that day with you and witness the great love you have for one another, as well as for your family and friends. I can’t thank you enough for choosing me to document your love.
Quick list of the amazing vendors that also shared in the day:
Venue: The Maryland Zoo Mansion House
Catering: Dean & Brown
Florist: Karen’s Flower Markets
Ceremony Music: BalTumbao
Cocktail Hour and First Dance Music: Happy Hours
Hair and Makeup: Christy Aspinwall
First look time 🙂
Rose and Morgan wanted to have the moment be just the two of them, but others couldn’t help but sneak a peek from a distance.Ha! They’re goofs. After a few pictures I made the comment “Ok, well I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do with flamingos, so…..”. Rose answered that for me, so of course we had to make Morgan join in. 🙂
I’m obsessed with these next pictures by this rounded wall.
Morgan made Rose laugh like non-stop while we were taking pictures. It was the most adorable thing. I wish I could say that the laughs you see in the pictures were because I’m totally hilarious, but it was all Morgan.
And then this wall! Note to other photographers – the zoo has some sweet walls.
A little behind-the-scenes golf cart sneak peek. This is what happens when it’s freezing outside and Rose makes funny faces at you.
The gorgeous Chupa I mentioned earlier. Stitched into it is “I am my beloved’s & my beloved is mine”. Six different couples from Rose’s family have gotten married under that Chupa, all with their names stiched onto it. The featured guest at cocktail hour was the adorable penguin, Winnie! Everyone wanted a picture with her!
Entertainment during the cocktail hour also provided by Jake and Rebecca of Happy Hours, a husband and wife folk duo. Seriously people, look them up and book them for your wedding. They are absolutely amazing. I’m not lying.
Penguin feet! So umm….I got to pet Winnie. It made my night. For real. Morgan could totally tell that I wanted to pet her. I must have a horrible poker face. So he told me to pet her and that he would take a picture. Thank you, Morgan! This girl cracked me up. I hope she doesn’t hate me for posting this picture, but as I was going around to tables and getting pictures of couples, I got to her and she said that these were her dates. She added a little bit of fun into what is normally one of the more boring parts of a wedding reception for me (yes, I’m admitting that publicly). Time for speeches! One of the moments that their love for one another really shined….
Such beautiful photos! I so enjoyed being able to work with this wonderful group of women!
