Hi, I'm Lauren! Welcome to my blog! I'm a Maryland wedding and portrait photographer that loves beautiful light and has an obsession with the water. This is my pretty little place to show off all of my most recent photography adventures and the stories behind them. So get comfy and have a look around!

Katey + Travis : Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myers Maritime Park – Fells Point, MD Wedding

I was so excited when Katey contacted me about photographing her wedding at the Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myers Maritime Park in Fells Point.  One of the very first weddings (Sara and Andy!!) that I shot on my own as a big girl with her own business was at the Frederick Douglass and I’ve been waiting for the chance to get back there.  Not only because it’s such a gorgeous and unique venue….you really can’t beat having the Baltimore skyline across the water as your backdrop….but because I wanted the chance to see how much I’ve grown as a photographer in the past couple years.  Obviously I can do that with any wedding, but getting to put myself into the same environment would be an extra test.

Add onto that how I later found out that Katey and Travis’s wedding was being planned by none other than Elle of elleDesigns, whom I had been dying for the chance to work with because I have been admiring her work on other photog’s blog for a long time now (she’s seriously amazing and a pure design genius and everyone should book her), I was totally giddy.  It was also my first time getting to see the amazing hair and makeup work of the ladies at Behind the Veil.  I couldn’t wait for Katey and Travis’s wedding to get here.  And the day definitely didn’t disappoint!  Katey and Travis are such fun people….definitely personalities that I click with.  Happy people with big smiles and real laughs….not afraid to crack jokes and let loose.  That always lets me know that I can do the same.  That makes it so that when I find out one of the groomsmen’s names is Jake, there’s no problem with me calling him Jake from State Farm the rest of the day and telling him that she sound hideous.  If you don’t watch any tv then you will be so confused by that.  But they all got it and it was always a good way to get some genuine smiles for pictures.  🙂

It was an honor working with so many great vendors that day that definitely deserve a little love:

I mean seriously, you can’t beat a bride that doesn’t mind having a kick-ass burger before she says “I do”.DSC_6695.jpg
